Rogues Rally 2003

Todd & Cresswell Take First Overall Win

William Todd & Maurice Cresswell took their first overall victory on last Friday night's Rogues Rally, organised by Rathfriland Motor Club. The Class 3 crew finished the event on just seven penalties, tied on that score with Eddie Murphy
& Barry Taggart, but the win went to the Vauxhall Corsa crew on the "Furthest Cleanest" rule. It was a different story at the halfway stage, where Eddie Murphy & Barry Taggart were the overall leaders by two penalties but a very consistent run saw Todd & Cresswell overcome the Nova crew on the second half.

Murphy & Taggart also won the Experts Class 2, when their only competitors in
the Class Trevor & Nicky Reid went out of the event on a particularly tricky lane two sections before the finish.

Class 3 for Novices went to the overall victors, with John Adams & Mervyn Elder finishing second on 16 points in their Peugeot 205, and Clifford Auld & John Lindsay took third in Class 3 on 32 points in the venerable Triumph 2.5PI.

The Rallyschool Class 4 was also hotly contested, with the eventual Class win going to Alistair & Jonathan McKane in their VW Golf on 15 points, second were father & son crew John & Jonathan Henderson in the reliable Talbot Sunbeam on 26 points, whilst another father & son crew, Pat & Conal McCartan secured third
in the Rallyschool Class with 28 points in the Ford Escort.

All in all a great night's fun was had by all crews, the Club would like to thank the Old George Rathfriland, where the event was hosted, and thanks also to all those who marshalled & assisted on the event.
