Press Release 1

Sligo Park Hotel Restricted Mini Stages Rally 2009

Sunday November 29th

Promoted by Connacht Motor Club

Connacht Motor Club are looking forward to hosting an end of season event, on Sunday November 29th which it is confident of achieving the clubs minimum target set of eighty entries , and indeed hopeful of starting well in excess of hundred crews . With Clerk of the Course Robert Lyttle already appointed supported by Deputy Paul Kiely , planning of the two special stages , which will run twice , are at an advanced stage . Optimistic of getting the support from competitors the organising committee are seeking a commitment by October 27th in entry terms of a minimum of 80 entries to make the event viable , so therefore it is imperative that entries are received early , before progressing the event to the next level.

With Paul Kiely's involvement, undoubtedly the chosen stages will particularly be competitor focused bringing to bear his vast experiences both as National title holder navigator and a driver. On the other hand Robert Lyttle as C.O.C. , having made enormous contributions to the planning of Rally Ireland as well as our local Sligo Stages , will have selected a loop attractive to all classes with emphasis on safety of both the competitor and the spectator alike. Keeping the competitor in mind ,and with every effort to keep costs to a minimum , an entry fee of €350 has been set and on a stage mile scale it will give real value for money . Maintaining the entry fee at this level, the club is willing to accept some degree of exposure to the subsidisation of the running costs in the interest of the attracting competitor numbers.

Sligo Park Hotel , which has been the home to Sligo Stages Rally since its inception , is also accommodating the Restricted Mini Stages event in November next , and what better place to host Rally Headquarters , as it is renowned for its homely receptive atmosphere , for both the competitor and spectator.

Regulations are due to be available to download at www.connachtmotorclub.com from this weekend and competitors committed to doing the event are requested to submit entry forms as soon as possible to give the club the opportunity to gauge the interest so that further plans can progress in the confidence of starting a capacity field.

In the unlikely event that entries by that October 27th deadline not have reached that crucial 80 mark , the organising committee will at that point have no option but to make the undesired decision in the interest of the club incurring any additional losses.

Important Dates:
Weekend of September 20th - Regulations available for download
Tuesday October 27th - Minimum 80 entry to progress event further (Decision Day)
Friday November 13th - Final date for receipt of entries
