Currently leading British Rally Championship junior driver
and leader of the Citroen Racing Trophy, Martin McCormack
prepared for the next round, Rally Isle of Man with a strong
showing on the Ravens Rock Rally held at the weekend in
Carrick On Suir.
Using the event primarily as an extended test for the forthcoming
outing to the Isle Of Man, Marty and co-driver Dai Roberts
started steadily on the opening loop of three stages but
arrived back into service after a big moment on stage two
as a result of brake concerns. With a change of brake pads
they steadily increased their pace and completed the next
loop of stages on the fringes of the top ten.
With three stages remaining of the event the crew left service
with four slick tyres on the car hoping that the roads would
stay dry but as they attempted the three stages the rain
gradually increased. Despite the rain Marty was in an inspired
form on the slippy roads and put in a great performance
to climb the leader board and finish ninth overall and 1st
two wheel drive car.
Having taken 1st place class points on the Jim Clark and
Pirelli rallies, and second on the opening round in Wales,
the MSA Academy member is looking forward to the challenge
provided by the fast, bumpy and unforgiving Manx roads to
hopefully build on his R2 class, Citroen Racing Trophy and
the British Rally Championship Junior Category leads.
Martin would like to take this opportunity to thank Outdoor
Services, Millers Oils, Carella, Ace Fixings, PPP Salvage
Auctions, TFR Refrigeration and all the other people who
contribute in any way.
